Banner adverts were some of the very first advertisment methods used, they are also probably the most distinctive and recognisable advert types.
Banner adverts have been used since as far back as 1993. In 1994 the banners became active links which would direct to anoter company's website. Since then banner advertising has become big business and is now used to advertise everything.
