Site Maps
Site maps are primarily used to help visitors navigate your site, they are typically organised in a hierachical fashion and usually link to each page on your website.
The other fuction of a site map is to index all pages on your site so that search engines such as Google, MSN and Yahoo can find and index all the pages on your site. The old method of making sure your site would appear when searched for in these search engines was to submit your site, usually by filling out a form, to each search engine separately. With a site map you no longer need do this as the search engines will find it.
